Sustainable Finance Capability for Institutions

Institutions sponsor their specialists for the CSFP™ Charter, enrol departments in short courses, and commission live programmes built around their own mandate.

THE NEED

Capability Is the Constraint

Institutions have made commitments on climate, transition, and sustainable lending. Meeting them depends on people who can price the risk, structure the instruments, and judge the claims. IISF sets a published standard for that competence, examines candidates against it, and awards the CSFP™ designation. Enterprise Solutions applies the standard across an institution.

THREE SOLUTIONS

Three Ways to Build Capability

Each solution may be used singly, or combined in one engagement.

Solution 01

The CSFP™ Charter for Teams

For
Specialists in credit, risk, investment, treasury, and sustainability.
What it is
The Institute's professional designation, earned at two levels by proctored examination. Sponsored candidates sit the same examinations as every other candidate.
Format
Self-study from the Candidate Portal. Next intake: January 2027.
Award
The CSFP™ designation.

Solution 02

Short Courses for Teams

For
Departments, new joiners, and staff outside the specialist functions.
What it is
Six self-paced courses of about 20 hours each, with a quiz in every module and a final quiz.
Format
Recorded lessons online. Study begins on any date agreed with the sponsor. Access lasts 12 months.
Award
IISF Certificate of Completion for each course. IISF Executive Certificate for all six.

Solution 03

Custom Programmes

For
Boards, executive committees, credit and risk teams, and supervisory units.
What it is
Live teaching by IISF faculty, designed for one institution and built around its mandate, its portfolio, and its markets.
Format
Online, on site, or both. From a half-day briefing to an eight-week programme.
Award
IISF Certificate of Participation.

Minimum group: ten participants for the CSFP™ Charter and the short courses. Fees and group terms are set out in the proposal.

THE ENGAGEMENT

How an Engagement Works

Every engagement follows the same five stages, from first enquiry to closing report.

  1. Enquiry

The institution states its objective, the functions concerned, the number of participants, and its timetable.

  2. Scoping

IISF and the sponsor agree the need and the solution.

  3. Proposal

IISF sets out the programme, the timetable, the fees, and the terms in writing.

  4. Agreement and enrolment

One agreement covers the engagement. IISF enrols the participants as a group.

  5. Delivery and reporting

Participants study and are assessed. The sponsor receives reports throughout.

Progress and results are released to the sponsor with each participant's consent, given at enrolment.

STANDARDS AND GOVERNANCE

The Standard Behind the Award

An institution that sponsors its staff relies on the standard behind the award. Four features protect it.

One Standard

Sponsored candidates sit the same examinations, to the same pass standard, as individual candidates.

Published Syllabi

The CSFP™ syllabus and the six course syllabi are published in full, with their learning outcomes.

Code of Conduct

Every Charterholder accepts the IISF Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.

Board Oversight

The Standards & Advisory Board advises on the syllabus and on the standard of assessment.

The Standards & Advisory Board has fourteen members. They bring experience from the institutions below.

  • World Bank
  • International Finance Corporation (IFC)
  • African Development Bank (AfDB)
